Guest blog with my babies!!
A lovely guest Post from author Dianne Gray.
Introduction
Dianne was unaware when she contacted me that her timing was exquisite! Why? Because it had recently crossed my mind that many readers must wonder why a blog with the name of Learning from Dogs so infrequently had articles about dogs! Hopefully both the Welcome page and my piece on Dogs and integrity make it clear that it is the qualities of dogs, the examples they set to mankind, that inspire these writings. As I say in Dogs and integrity,
Dogs:
- are integrous ( a score of 210) according to Dr David Hawkins
- don’t cheat or lie
- don’t have hidden agendas
- are loyal and faithful
- forgive
- love unconditionally
- value and cherish the ‘present’ in a way that humans can only dream of achieving
- are, by eons of time, a more successful species than man.
So it is a double pleasure…

Thank you and a welcome from Arizona to all readers. That photo of Sabre looks uncannily like our Pharaoh. Best wishes, Paul

I think that’s why your blog caught my eye to begin with! I thought – what’s Sabre doing in that pic?! lol 🙂

I very much enjoyed reading your story about your two dogs, although I’m sorry to hear you have had those trials to put up with. Love doesn’t come cheap, does it! I had a cross Alsatian/Collie years ago and loved him to bits. I have never truly got over his death. That is a story for another day.
What a pain that you have those junkies nearby. I wish they would leave you all alone.
Thank you for the comment on my garden. We are in mid summer and it is hot and humid, after weeks of rain and cool temperatures, so I guess I shouldn’t complain.
What a treasure your vet has turned out to be. God bless her and others like her.

I’m so glad you enjoyed this (and so terribly sorry about your puppy – it’s so incredibly heartbreaking when we lose a pet – I can’t even think about it without getting teary!)
The junkies are an absolute pain. I know I should be more ‘understanding’ of their circumstances but I just can’t. Last summer I heard some of them coming up the lane and yelling ‘let’s get it on’ and one of them pulled himself up and put his head over the fence and barked. I was picking tomatoes and I yelled ‘go away’ and pegged one at the fence and accidently hit him in the face. The strange thing was that the dogs didn’t make a sound! They just turned and looked at me as it they were shocked. The guy swore and ran off (he mustn’t have learned his lesson because I’ve heard him do the same thing since ).
I just love the pictures of your garden. In the harsh winter we’re having it’s so nice to look at your blog and see pictures of flowers and vegies and sunshine! Thank you!

Oh dogs. We’re on our third- first a redbone coon hound, then Atticus the malamute, and now Koda, another hairy malamute. All rescues and each shaped by character and by life events leading up to adulthood, when we adopted them. But I’m not quite sure where I’d be without the tumbleweeds of dog hair in the corners of the living room or the heavy head on my stomach when I’m feeling ill. Thanks for sharing your stories!

Dianne, I have only just read this, I should have guessed you were also a dog lover. I mind dogs on a part time basis, and I am an absolute avid fan of Ceasar Milan. We did have an old girl a Blue Heeler/Cocker mix whom we had to put to sleep at 16. My one and only tattoo is her name and paw print on my stomach. Tell me have you heard of the Japanese dog Hachikō and his story? THANK YOU so much for liking “Who Am I – Part 3″. I was having dinner with my daughter last night and said how privileged it is to have an published Author reading pieces I have written.

Oh yes. Such a moving story – he waited at the train station every day for the next nine years! Amazing!
Oh, so sad about your dog. The one thing in life I don’t like about having dogs is when they pass. I cry for weeks! It’s a fitting tribute to have the paw print tattoo – love it!
That is so lovely of you to appreciate me following your posts. As I said, we are very similar in so many ways and I love reading them 🙂 (just about to get around to the latest one now)
