Freebie, pitcher picture and anniversary
Just a quick update to let you know my novel Let Sleeping Gods Lie is free on Amazon until Sat 22 June. Pick up a copy, I promise you won’t be disappointed. This novel is set in Australia and the scenery is based on the land around the farm where I live. The story is about a man called Nick who returns home to visit his estranged family of cult members. Nick has a demon on his back and the closer he gets to the truth, the harder it is to shake it off. For some reason I have no reviews on Amazon for this one (there are reviews on other sites) so if you decide to read it, please feel free to leave a review.
The other day when I was wandering around the garden I noticed my Pitcher Plant was in bloom. It’s an odd looking thing!
Do you like chilli plants? While I was hacking my way through the rainforest of my yard weeding the other day I found two Bird’s Eye chilli plants. I’ve picked some of the chillies and am going to infuse them in oil to add to anything I feel like eating HOT!
I received a notice from Word Press on Monday congratulating me for my 2 Year Blogging Anniversary.

That plant is amazing, Yolanda! I actually got it to get rid of the flies, but didn’t realise how beautiful and strange looking it would be. It collects water in the tube and lures insects to their demise.

Oooh, that pitcher plant is something to behold! We have some rare Michigan pitcher plants that I know up north, but nothing compared to the color of yours. My peppers are in, and I’m looking forward to harvesting–and just a tad jealous in the interim. It’ll take me a couple of days, but I’ll do an Amazon review…..

Congratulations on your 2 year anniversary! I’ve been on WordPress that long, too, but started on Blogger way before that. Pitcher plants are so fantastic as are the other carnivorous plants. I had one, but it died because it’s too dry here and I forgot to mist it a few days. 😦

The pitcher plant is the provincial flower of Newfoundland and Labrador, which is not where I grew up (I’m from Nova Scotia), but I did live there for 6 months, plus it is part of Atlantic Canada. The pitchers there look a little different than yours – not quite as vibrant and showy as yours (love the crest!) Here is a pic I found: http://www.heritage.nf.ca/pitcher.html

Have never seen a pitcher plant before. Quite fascinating! My teenaged son is the pepper grower in this family – his personal challenge is the hottest ever. We’ve had Super Chilis, Hungarian Hots, Cayenne and this year he’s attempting a Bhut Jolokia hybrid – the world’s hottest pepper. Of course, with the Calgary climate those will be indoor ones. The rest get put out in the summer (or will if we ever warm up), and are harvested in early September. We’ve been drying and grinding them and they make excellent additions to curries, chilis and the like. Congrats on your two year anniversary! I think it’s been about that long since I started, but I probably confused them when I went from .com to .org.

Your son is a champion! I love hot peppers although I don’t know if I’d go as far as a Bhut Jolokia – very hot indeed. Best of luck with the plants! 😀

I don’t know if you can read e-books on a Mac, Kath (not much help am I!) I guess you could just click on the download option and see what happens. It may open up a whole new world for you and you and the kids could read all the free books you like 😀

The plants certainly are exotic. I got this one so it would ‘eat’ the flies and mosquitoes and it’s doing a pretty good job! 😀

Congrats on your blogoversary… I’ve really enjoyed your blog posts, and novels… and think I have now read them all. I cross-checked my Goodreads reviews and by way of housekeeping copied across a few to Amazon that weren’t there…it seems Amazon Australia i.e. .au and the US plain .com may not co-opt on reviews and for a while I was directed to .au but I’ve now changed back…
Wonderful pic of the Pitcher Plant… it looks like it could say “feed me Seymour”, and I love chilli plants but chilli doesn’t love me, but it is beautifully decorative.

Oh no, Roy – don’t feel guilty at all. Writing reviews takes a lot of time (I rarely write reviews for that reason). This story is one of my favourites and I couldn’t figure out why it had no reviews at all. It was dying a slow death so I thought I’d give it a bit of a boost.
It’s now #4 in the Kindle mystery/thriller/suspense category, and #4,096 in the Free in Kindle Store (whatever that means) so I’m very happy about that. 😀

I mixed it up yesterday – cut up with the chilies (with gloves on LOL) and mixed them with olive oil and a bit of vinegar. Wow, can’t wait to try it out 😉
