Some tropical fog

It’s been a lovely cool winter here in the Australian tropics. This type of weather is something I savour before that dreaded tropical summer blasts its way into our lives.

I took this photo from my front porch at 6:00 this morning . My trusty thermometer revealed it was 12 deg C (or 53 deg F).

Foggy morning in the tropics

The front stairs of the RUC are almost finished so I’m hoping to get the before and after shots up here within the next week (fingers and toes crossed).

I felt like the paparazzi the other day when I was taking shots of the birds. Is this the angriest bird face you’ve ever seen?

Birdface

I didn’t realise how cranky that little guy looked until I was going through all the photos I took that day.

Have a great week – and (hopefully) I’ll have pictures of the RUC stairs in my next post.

Oh my! That little nugget does look mad at you, Dianne! What a cutie, though. Can you send some of that cool weather our way? We’re sweltering here with oppressive humidity. Great to see you! xo

I’ll be requesting some of your cool in a few months, Jill. I’m absolutely loving this weather and wish I could send some your way 🙂 It’s great to see you too xxxx

Winter is my favorite season too. Very comfortable–much drier, not as blast-furnace hot. It lasts five or six months, and it’s wonderful! Such a difference from winter in Minnesota, which is often so, so cold. Like -20 with frigid wind chills.

Oh yes I know that cold weather with the wind chills. Both you and I have lived in the ultra cold and now enjoy the ultra warm! I love tropical winters. Sometimes I pull on a sweater, but not often 🙂

Great pictures, Dianne. Did you get a scolding too with that angry look? LOL

I love the fog, when I don’t have to drive in it. It’s so mysterious. 🙂

I’ve driven in very heavy fog, so I know what you mean, Jackie – yikes!

Yes – that angry bird had me in stitches, all it could do was tweet at me (it’d be nice if that’s all people could do when they were angry) 😉

The bird picture–that’s funny. I swear my dog gets cranky when I am constantly taking his picture! He’s so darn cute, I can’t resist.

I get that way too, Jacqui and I’m sure the animals around here refer to me as “the paparazzi” 😀

A little star who’s private life was caught in your focus Dianne. You should have respected his privacy. You paparazzi just don’t know when to stop.

We’ve had a very mild winter here in southern QLD, with some days even reaching the mid 20s. The nights are still quite chilly though. That bird has your number, Dianne. 🙂

Cool? I’ve just been reading, open-mouthed, Bill Bryson’s ‘Down Under’. What an amazing country Australia is, in so many aspects. He doesn’t say anything about ‘cool’ though 🙂 That bird looks like one of Kath Unsworth’s (Oz blogger) grumpy bird sketches.

Oh I know Kath Unsworth, Roy! She’s a fantastic artist 😀
I’m sure I’ve got that Bill Bryson book somewhere in one of my bookshelves (I’m not very organised with my books like a friend of mine who keeps his like a library) 😉 Australia is a truly remarkable place xxx

We’re on the tailend of our summer, but it never got oppressively hot or humid. We usually have to endure a heat wave, but I don’t think that ever happened. Maybe that’s why I don’t feel like I had too much of a summer?!

Love that bird–must not have gotten his beauty sleep!

Your foggy winter sounds like what I experienced (and LOVED) when I lived in the SF bay area. I found (still find) the fog so romantic as I watched it creepy crawl over the Golden Gate Bridge and fill up the bay. The smell and the feel of that fog – delicious. Enjoy your cool winter. We’re at the tail end of a sweet summer season here. The tomatoes are harvested, the pumpkins growing for Halloween. Just had the last of the sweet yellow corn. Ah, seasons.
Your little bird obviously woke up on the wrong side of the nest that morning!!! :-0

I love the fog too, Pam. This morning it’s rolled in again and the full moon is setting over the mountains – what a beautiful morning it is!
I hope you’re safe from that awful storm that looks like hitting in the next few days xxxx

I’m envious of your fog. We share the same love of the full moon – here it is so glorious to watch as I listen to the chirp of the crickets, frantically living life to their end. The horrendous hurricane that is marching into the US will enter Florida, where my several good friends live. I’m biting my nails over this one- sounds like a monster.

New England is sunny and calm. But my friend who lives in Clearwater FL is in the thick of the storm and hunkered down with her family. SCARY.

I never thought about fog in the tropics. So cool 😎 Love the little birds. It’s so dry here, our yard is alive with them but they are too quick for me to photograph successfully- you are good!

It’s incredibly dry here as well. My front lawn is dead so I’ve decided to get the bore pump going to get a little greenery out there 😉

Oh yes – I know what you mean, After living in Canberra for a while I would much rather be in bed than walking around in that fog. At least I don’t have to scrape the ice off the cars here in the morning 😉
