Somewhere over the rainbow
I spotted this magnificent rainbow during the dog walk around the farm on Thursday. I captured it with my iPhone (which I hate because the pictures aren’t nearly as good as my old Samsung). I’ve written about this in my blog posts before and can’t wait for my iPhone contract to expire next February so I can get my hands on another Samsung. The colours of the rainbow didn’t come out as well as I thought they would. Also, the rainbow was so wide I couldn’t get it all in one shot.
It was all going swimmingly until the cloud beneath that rainbow decided to dump on our heads! Needless to say we had to make a run for it to escape the tropical storm. You’ll be pleased to know we survived and I took a nice warm shower when I got home.
I regularly visit one of my neighbours for morning coffee, so the following day I took a photo of a beautiful tree in her yard. Again, the iPhone doesn’t do it justice, but you can probably understand why I found this tree so mesmerizing.

Lovely photos but I get your frustration. Similar rainbow here the other day and my old Samsung S4 just couldn’t capture the colours but panorama mode at least coped with its expanse.
That’s quite a yard your neighbour’s got and a beautiful tree. A nice long table, good company and cool drinks would go nicely ♡

Everything here is really green, Carrie – even if it hasn’t rained for a while. When I lived down south in the cold it was very brown but the autumn colours on the trees were sensational 😉

Simply magic whenever we see a full rainbow Dianne. Wow! love the tree, it must be so nice to have a friendly neighbour to visit. That tree is one I would have ran up to and hugged. Thanks for sharing your day with us.

I’ve got fantastic neighbours here, Kath. They’ve all known each other (and my hubby) since they were kids playing together. I’ve only known them for about 30 years but I still feel like one of the family xxx

Dianne, I just treated myself to a new Samsung Galaxy A5 and I love it. It takes great photos.

That’s what I use to have – I LOVE the photos they take. I dropped mine in the creek about the same time as my contract was up and they convinced me to get an iPhone which I thought would be great – but the photos are terrible compared to the Samsung. I’m looking forward to see your snaps 🙂

Great photos anyway. I don’t have any kind of smartphone but find the iPad ideal for blogging pix. I guess the widest lens angle is about 32mm equivalent with zoom to very long and you can edit, including colour, instantly (so while you’re look at the scene). Of course what the viewer sees depends on their device.

I’ve got a Nikon camera but I don’t like taking that on the dog walks to the mountains because I’m worried it’ll get damaged. My old Samsung was perfect, but the iPhone is crappy. I’ve got an iPad, and that may be okay to take on the walks. Thanks for the idea and for coming by. I’m glad you like the photos 😉

I forgot to say that you can get a wide angle attachment for the iPad I believe which is very small and may have taken in the whole of your rainbow. I don’t like taking a camera on strenuous walks either because all mine are bulky or heavy (relatively). You could see an example or two of iPad shots on my recent post on a trip to the English Lake District. I also like using the iPad as now I write most of my posts on it so the photos are instantly available.

We all have a lot of yard around here, Sylvia. I think the old farmers that built these places several generations ago wanted the sugar cane as far away from the houses as possible 🙂

That is some big rainbow – a pity that only in Ireland would you find a crock of gold at the end of it. I think my (very basic) phone has a camera function but I generally walk/run carrying my palm-sized Kodak which, as a technophobe, is good enough for me 🙂

A pot of gold would really suit me at the moment, Roy – such a shame I couldn’t find the end of the rainbow, but knowing my luck all I would find would be a snake 😀

Mesmerizing is definitely the word! Oh, it’s gorgeous. If I were to see it in real life I might not be able to handle it. I just love beautiful trees. Thank you for sharing that one. I love these! We are also going through a time of the year when colours are especially intense. I am enjoying it immensely, aside from the allergies that accompany the blossoms et al!

I love the rainbow shot. You did a great job with it, so don’t denigrate, please! But while the tree shot is much showier, it gives me a cold feeling. I wonder why that is?
