Guess what I found on the back of my pants?

When I returned home from my grocery shopping on Thursday I brushed my hand over the back of my pants and found this:

It’s some kind of plastic diamond sticker. I figure I probably sat on it when I had my coffee at the mall. I felt so stupid special. I’m sure most people at the mall would have thought I was starting a new trend.
“Wow! there goes the lady who sticks plastic diamonds on her bum! I want to be just like her.”

Apart from this making me enormously popular, my week was interesting – so here are some titles:

A Spider Ate My Mouse (Horror) – What is happening in the small town of Rucville? A woman battles a hairy eight-legged force who takes up residence on her computer mouse. Does she finish her novel, or run screaming from the house to fight again another day?

Sleepless in the RUC (Action) – A local resident stands against teens who decide to try out their new four wheelers at all hours of the night. Can one man really scare off these jokers? You bet!

Water! (Drama) – When a tractor catches fire the driver decides to head straight for the RUC to find water. The lady of the house is not impressed (unfortunately I didn’t get photos).

The Diamond  Buttock (Comedy) – How long can one woman walk around with a diamond stuck to her bottom when she’s not Kim Kardashian?  Will she ever be able to find the diamond’s rightful owner?

Thanks to those who played along last time I did my Week in Titles. Marsha Ingrao and Irishnana and (of course) the lovely boss-lady who inspired me, Jo (who doesn’t have a website so I can’t link here).

Before I sign off – I’ve changed my book covers for hard copy on Creatspace. Take a look on the right of the screen and let me know what you think       ➡ ➡ ➡

***Have a great week!***

    Well, I think it’s cute.

  2. JackieP / Nov 4 2016 1:31 pm

sounds like an exciting week. A big spider? EEEKKK….I would run screaming. LOL I had enough big spiders when I lived in Texas. No thanks. 😉

    • diannegray / Nov 5 2016 7:04 am

I ran into another huge one last night, Jackie. I don’t ‘really’ mind them (I say with a bit of a cringe) but they have the habit of giving me a big fright (probably because they just appear out of nowhere!) lo :D.

      • JackieP / Nov 5 2016 7:32 am

I do know your country has some pretty big ones. 🙂 Would make me jump.

      • diannegray / Nov 5 2016 7:57 am

There was one on YouTube last week of a spider eating a mouse (that was filmed just south of us) Yikes!

Thanks Annie! It’s always fun trying to put titles on things that happen during the week (and good exercise for my brain) 😉

It’s a great idea, I’ll try it. I find I do it in conversation – someone says something and I’m ‘that’s a book title’ 😉

      • diannegray / Nov 7 2016 7:22 am

Haaaa – I do that too sometimes and unless I write it down I tend forget it later when I need it 😉

I know I’m always guaranteed a laugh here😆 wonderful post dear Dianne. Quite a week! And lots of fuel for the writing fire… Love n hugs, h xxx

    • diannegray / Nov 5 2016 7:09 am

I just love finding ‘fuel for the writing fire’, Harula. What a great saying! Love to you my friend xxx

  6. Gallivanta / Nov 4 2016 6:14 pm

Better than bubble gum, for sure! The book covers look good. I particularly like the ballet shoes.

    • diannegray / Nov 5 2016 7:13 am

Ah yes – Soul’s Child the ballerina. I really like that picture as well 😀
I remember my brother sat on a cup cake at the fair once and had to spend the rest of the day with a brown splotch on his pants – he wasn’t impressed! Give me a diamond any day 😀

  7. Roy McCarthy / Nov 4 2016 8:31 pm

Just love the covers Dianne – Soul’s Child is particularly poignant. Concerning the spider I’m guessing you spoke kindly to it before persuading it to move aside. I’d run and keep running 🙂

    • diannegray / Nov 5 2016 7:18 am

I’m not sure what sound came out of my mouth when I first put my hand on the spider, Roy – but it didn’t sound human 😉
I’m so glad you like the Soul’s Child cover – I was pretty happy about it when I put it together.

I hope everything is going well for you xxx

  8. roughwighting / Nov 4 2016 8:55 pm

What a great idea- each day of the week in title. I’ll have to use that sometime – can I ‘borrow’ it? 🙂 I think your book covers are amazing. A new designer? The one that stands out the most is SOUL’S CHILD. I like how they’re all designed similarly with the title and author name scrolled 3/4s of the way down.

Yes! Please ‘borrow’ it Pam and I’ll link you back to my next post 🙂

I’m so glad you like the new book covers. I did them all through the cover creator on Create Space. It was awesome using the tools to build them – I hope they look professional 🙂

        (1) thank you – you’re so generous!! (2) I’m amazed that the covers are from Create Space cover creator. I haven’t looked at their program in the past two years – will get on that. Thanks for the tip.

  9. Jill Weatherholt / Nov 4 2016 9:36 pm

“The Diamond Buttock.” LOL! You’re so funny, Dianne. The covers look amazing! Well done! xo

    • diannegray / Nov 5 2016 7:24 am

Thanks Jill! It’s always fun thinking of these things (and I’m sure I giggle a lot when I’m writing them) 😀

    • diannegray / Nov 5 2016 7:27 am

I think I’ve moved to the A grade Hollywood list with the diamond, Susan 😀
I’m so glad you like the covers. I was a bit hesitant to change them, but I had to go through them all word by word to put them on CreateSpace so I thought I may as well give their faces a bit of a lift while I was there xxx

I bet people thought it was intentional. Are you going to leave it?

BTW, I just bought your book, Wolf Pear. It sounds fascinating. I love that it ends up in a garden for solutions. Can’t wait to read it!

    • diannegray / Nov 5 2016 7:31 am

That’s fantastic, Jackie! Thank you and I I really hope you enjoy reading Wolf Pear 🙂

I removed the diamond – but maybe I should have left it there to be a trend-setter! 😀

  12. Carrie Rubin / Nov 5 2016 1:22 am

I can certainly relate, Dianne! Well, except for the giant spider. Thank goodness we don’t have a lot of those in my neck of the woods. All your creatures are supersized compared to ours. 🙂

When my boys were little, they enjoyed putting stickers on my back in the ruse of giving me a hug (so I wouldn’t catch on). Then they’d see how long I’d walk around without realizing the sticker was on me. The answer turned out to be a very long time indeed!

    • diannegray / Nov 5 2016 7:36 am

Haaaaa! My kids used to do that as well, Carrie! They always had the knack of giving me a laugh. Then my daughter went through a stage of blowing raspberries (in the sound of passing wind) every time I bent over to pick something up (don’t tell your boys that because they’ll be onto it in a shot, even though they’re bigger now).
I hope you’re enjoying your blogging break, getting everything done and enjoying some ‘Carrie time’ xxxx

      • Carrie Rubin / Nov 5 2016 8:03 am

I am, thank you. We moved and that took up a lot of my time, but I’m getting back into my groove now.

And no, I don’t think I’ll share the raspberry thing with my sons. That’s all I need. 😉

Ha ha. I love your week titles. The spider is scary. Love the diamond on the jeans. And your new book covers are fun. That looks like a lot of work you did to get them all changed.

    • diannegray / Nov 5 2016 7:41 am

As well as changing the covers I went through them word by word to get them up on CreateSpace, Char – it was a lot of work, but really worth it (and it’s inspired me to get stuck into the half written novels I’ve got hanging around the place) – so I’m really glad you like the ‘new look’ 🙂

I’m loving the Hope and the Highway blog tour! xxxx

You’ve definitely had an exciting week! I wonder if any of the incidents were related – at least maybe the tractors out at all hours of the night and then the one catching on fire. Maybe it spontaneously combusted from any possible negative thoughts directed toward it. Sounds like it could be a book! Your covers look great!

    • diannegray / Nov 5 2016 7:45 am

What do you do when your tractor catches fire? You drive straight towards the nice wooden house! Haaa – I couldn’t believe he did that and I put that fire out within seconds, Sheila.
So glad you like the covers – one of my dreads is trying to get the cover of a book to look half decent 😀

    • diannegray / Nov 5 2016 7:49 am

Yep – hubby can be a bit Crocodile Dundee at times which can be handy (for me) or just plain scary (for teenagers) 😉
If butt stickers take off – we all know who discovered them first (lol) 😀

  16. the eternal traveller / Nov 5 2016 7:31 am

I read your title Dianne and, knowing how many creepy critters live at your place, I was expecting a living thing to be on your pants. You can imagine my relief when I saw it was a pretty sticker. I like the cover of Wolf Pear.

    • diannegray / Nov 5 2016 7:56 am

Oh yes, I didn’t think of that – it could have been anything from a croc to a spider! Now that WOULD be scary 😀
Wolf Pear has always been the highest seller of all my books. I’m not sure why (if it’s the title or the subject matter), but it’s the hardest one to find a cover that suits it so I’m really glad you like it 🙂

Haaaaa! Thanks Dannie – I love ‘The diamond award’! My week got bigger on Saturday when large spider jumped onto my dinner plate. I got a photo, but I don’t know if anyone is going to like it. I sent it to a few friends and they screamed 😀

Your new book covers are so beautiful – what led you to change them?
I am off to stick diamonds on my jeans now….. I hear it’s the new trend 😉

    • diannegray / Nov 7 2016 7:31 am

Haaaa – I love the ‘new trend’ Letizia 😀

I changed the covers because I wanted to put hard copies on CreateSpace, but my computer broke last year and I lost all my work (including the pictures of the old covers). So it was a good excuse to download the books off the net in PDF and update them to Word (because I didn’t have electronic copies of those either) and update the covers. I feel whole again 😀
