Speechless

I was sitting outside writing yesterday when I was rudely interrupted by a huge thunderstorm. I went inside and looked out the front window to see one of the weirdest things I’ve ever seen (and believe me, I’ve seen a lot of weird things).

I was just going to write a post about it, but thought no one would believe me so the proof is in the pictures. Because this week’s WP challenge is image vs text I think these pictures speak for themselves.

Remember – this is a thunderstorm and there was a lot of lightning! Yes – that is a steel pole he’s holding on a tin roof…

Longshot

It’s obviously not dangerous enough so how about we add a bit of soap to that?

Slippery roof

How about I get the hose up there and wash away the soap?

Hose it down

This strange exercise lasted for about two hours – I was stunned but couldn’t tear my eyes away from the scene. I’m still wondering how he wasn’t struck by lightning and avoided taking off on the ‘slip and slide’ he’d created.

Have you seen anything this weird lately?

I saw an overweight woman dressed in skin tight,multi-colored neon leggings (seriously, it looked like a bag of confetti exploded on her pants and stuck), equally binding florescent blue and pink tank top, florescent gold shoes and bling on her teeth. Does that count as weird?

Had to laugh about “have you seen anything this weird” because “weird” is in the eyes of the beholder and what I might think quite normal I find a lot of people think weird. We bought this 90 yr old house that everyone thought we were nuts for buying — but everyone who comes inside loves it — It’s all about your personal vision I think.

Tropical rain is like no other – it absolutely buckets down – and with all that soap on the roof…well, I din’t know how he didn’t slip off! 😯

Well, what can I say, that man is practical to say the least! My mum used to do this to our windows when it was raining. She’d lean out of the window and scrub all the glass and let the rain do the washing. I was always there, gripping her leg to prevent her from falling and yelling at her to get back inside before she kills herself. =/

LOL! I love it, Zen. If the guy hadn’t carried the hose onto the roof and hosed it down as well during the rain I may have thought he was half doing the right thing! 😆

Haha, that’s hilarious! How on Earth do you decide to wash a roof in the middle of a thunderstorm. I bet his logic was “If I was it now I don’t need to bring the hose up”, but still so silly 🙂

Ah, makes me nostalgic for those great big thunderstorms you get in Australia. There’s really nothing like those hot, dark, heavy tropical storms 🙂

Thanks for sharing Dianne, very funny!

Talk about a great way to reveal character – the man who takes advantage of a rain storm to clean his shed! I remember when I was in Denmark, WA, because we weren’t on the mains and just had the water tank for our supply – when it rained I used to take an extra long shower no guilt. Loved this Dianne 😉 And thanks for the RT – gosh there’s so much ‘noise’ on twitter that it makes me smile that someone thinks to mention me!

My pleasure with the RT, Gabriela! 😀

You’re right about revealing character – I think if this guy was a minor character in one of my stories I’d probably only need two lines to describe his personality perfectly! 😉

That’s what I’m saying – when you only need the tiniest of brushstrokes. That’s when you know you’ve found a character. It’s why I like using life so much in my work – though sometimes I feel it’s cheating a bit, when I go out and see something and all I have to do is write it down, and people say wow, and I’m like: I didn’t really come up with it…

Hmmm….I wonder if he’d come over to wash my car and outside of my house….it rains here a lot too.

And wonders….that looks like a garage of sort he is washing…why does he not pull the vehicle out and wash that at the same time.

Another thought…OMG….you should be glad he did not feel the need to take his shower!!!!

Your are so right in saying that was a strange sight, but my husband has done something almost as stupid. During a recent blizzard in our area, in the dark and with 50 mph winds, heavy snow fall, with at least several inches of heavy snow and ice mixed, he climbed on our roof to clean off our two satellites, one for my Internet and the other for the TV he was watching and if one time wasn’t bad enough, he did it twice. When they went out a third time he decided to go to bed.

You were right to take photos, because people would be hard pressed to believe something so absurd without seeing the evidence for themselves. Goodness gracious! My stomach kept shrinking as I went through the images. Surely, he’s just gonna have to re-wash that after the storm?

I noticed a few leaves on his roof yesterday and wondered if he was going to get up there with a ‘leaf blower’ machine LOL 😀
