WP gremlins are playing around with posts

Yesterday I went into my emails to check posts and each time I clicked on them I received a message that the post had been deleted. Hmmm – now this has happened to my new post today.

I haven’t deleted my post – it should be here

😀

I’ve had the same problem a few times – to be honest I thought it was just me until I saw another blogger mention it!

It’s odd because I thought everyone was deleting their posts yesterday – now I know the reason behind it 😯

You know, I think I’ve seen that happen to others. Went to look at their posts and they WERE gone.

    Yours is still there.

I re-posted it because someone told me they saw it come up in their email and when they clicked on it a message came up saying my blog had been cancelled. That’s a bit of a worry….

I hate when that happens. WP has been remarkably stable, very few problems. I’d be so sad if that wasn’t the case.

I do see yours, but maybe that’s because you put it in again.

And, I haven’t backed up my blog in months.

    Sigh.

We’re supposed to back up our blogs? oops – I haven’t done that at all …..

    To back up your blog:

Dashboard -> Tools -> Export -> Export -> All Content -> Download Export File. DONE.

It is.. but I must admit I have been getting some emails that I can read in email form, but when I go to the link I’m told sorry I’m lost…

I also found it difficult to upload the pictures this time (and it hasn’t been difficult before this). I’m not sure how you manage when you upload yours because you have a lot! 😉

I use “windows Live writer” to write my posts and load my photos, and then I just publish to WP, it saves a lot of airtime.. it is a free download and makes things so much easier…

Two of my favorite bloggers seem to have disappeared. WordPress says they no longer have blogs, and I don’t believe it.
The gremlins are everywhere. Every post on my Facebook page disappeared the other day. My page was naked. At the end of the day, they were back, but it was still frustrating. Gremlins!! I’m off to read the *real* post now.

I’ve had a few that I received in email but when I go to comment they were gone. I even had one where it said the blog was deleted. I was bummed, but it was back up the next day. Weird.

That’s what I’ve had as well and I didn’t realise it would actually happen to me. Luckily a blogger noticed that they couldn’t get into my post by email, so they emailed me asking if I’d deleted my site. I re-posted it and it seemed to work. I love that other bloggers will tell you these things, otherwise I’d be sitting wondering why no one wants to read my posts anymore! 😯

WP has placed many new bloggers in my Reader! I have no clue where they came from but the gremlins might be a good explanation……

I wonder if it has anything to do with the global cyber-attacks exploiting a recently-discovered flaw in Java? There were news stories the day before your disappearance problems advising people to disable Java on their browsers. I don’t know if WP’s functions rely on Java much. After turning it off, I didn’t notice any differences except at outside sites that use Java to embed media.

I didn’t know this, Mikey – but it’s worth looking into. I love being surrounded by people who have technical knowledge because I have absolutely none. Thanks so much for the heads-up 😉

The post is there- is it irony that the post is called “Here today gone the next?” when you are saying the post was here today and gone the next? lol couldn’t help but notice that!

That’s so funny! Just as Cestlavie22 said, initially I thought you were referring to the “here today, gone tomorrow” post as well.
I hope the WP gremlins have gone into a long hibernation.

I’ve heard that from other’s as well. I think sometimes WP goes into a bit of a glitch and bloggers can ‘disappear’ for a while. If I get an email about a new post from anyone now and am told it’s no longer accessible, I go into my ‘comments’ and get to the post from there…it can be a bit frustrating…

I found a couple of my friend’s comments in the spam folder, but that’s all that the gremlins have done to me recently. I was devastated when WP closed my blog down one day when I cut and pasted a spam comment in my post. I never did that again!!! Hope all your gremlin problems work themselves out SOON! 🙂 ML

A month later, hopefully this is all over… I had one post on WP.org that the update was deleted. First time, though. It did make me back up all my blogs again.
