It’s a long way to the top

Parasailing in Yeppoon

I’d like to brag and tell you that this is me parasailing (in a parallel universe where people don’t fall out of the sky and if they did they had a soft landing) it would be. I took this pic while enjoying a wine on the eighth floor balcony at Bayview Tower in Yeppoon. What a view – looking out over Great Keppel Island!

After six days of driving we’ve finally reached our destination – Cairns!

First stop (before going to the family farm) was dropping in to see one of my oldest and dearest friends who is recovering from a brain tumour operation. We’ve spent hundreds of hours on the phone in the past six months and I threw my arms around her and squeezed her so tight I thought I would bust!

I’m now sitting at the old farm catching up with the relatives and having a nice cup of tea:)

It looks like you are having a splendid trip; so glad for you! It’s beautiful where you are. You sure you don’t want to try the parasail? Me neither! 🙂

Hahaha – I’m terrified of heights. At least I had a wine with me on the eighth floor 🙂

Wow, that’s a GREAT farm! And I’m afraid I’m with you — I’m one of the world’s worst acrophobes. *Shudder!* Just thinking too hard about parasailing makes me pucker.

Nope. Couldn’t get me to parasail either, no matter how lovely the landscape. Glad you got to see your friend. 🙂

How wonderful to be able to visit your friend after all she’s been through. It must have been such a special moment when you arrived. I went parasailing for the first time a couple of months ago in Phuket. It was the most awesome experience for this granny. 🙂

Awesome! Makes me want to throw away all my engineering books and head for nirvana! By the way. this wouldn’t be the ‘road trip’ you mentioned in my post, right? (The one where you heard “Behind Blue Eyes” coincidentally?) :).. Really nice post Dianne! Looking forward for more!

The sugar cane train and the scenery look so cool. I think parasailing is a sport best observed with both feet on the ground 🙂

Thanks for following my blog, Dianne. Can’t tell you how surprised I was to find *anyone* following it after the first post, let alone someone I don’t know. I was just watching an episode of House Hunters International (it’s a show Yank show about finding houses–don’t judge) on Thursday: they were in Cairns. I’d never heard of Cairns before that. It’s a crazy old world.

      My pleasure!

What a coincidence about the show 🙂

I watch very little television but when I do I like those yank shows about storage wars (go figure). I think it’s the voyeur in me watching as they go through other people’s ‘stuff’.

So glad you stopped by to say hello. I’m looking forward to your next post 😀

Such a short post…and yet I feel like I was there, too, just for a few moments. I love the long hug for your friend. 🙂
