Life is a highway
We’ve been on the road now for nearly a week.
First stop was my brother’s place in Coffs Harbour where we were attacked by the cuteness of the wallabies and kookaburras.
Next stop was Brisbane where we stayed with some old friends and laughed about old embarrassing stories.
We are now somewhere between the Back and Beyond.
What we’ve seen along the way
- Stoopid drivers
- More stoopid drivers
- Caravans overtaking caravans
UFOsWeather balloons in the early morning sky- Busses, trucks trains and planes
- Road after road
- Field after field
- Town after town
I’m managing to do the occasional bit of peeping into posts while hubby focuses on the driving 🙂
the kookaburra is so cute (as is the baby roo!)

Oh, Janna – the Joey was SO cute. At one stage it climbed out and tried to hop around and its legs were all gangly and it fell over and then hopped back into the pouch! Talk about cute factor!!! Of course I had my phone on the charger and couldn’t grab it in time to take a picture

Good friends, fun pics and stupid drivers! Sounds like a perfect road trip. I LOVE the pictures of the kookaburra, my husband always sings some song about one of those he learned at camp. 🙂
Have a great time! Thanks for bringing us along

Kookaburra sits in the old gum tree, very merry king of the bush is he. Laugh kookaburra, laugh kookaburra – gay your life must be!
I hope that’s the song – otherwise I’ve just made a complete twit of myself (again)! 😀

LOL – That is it!! Love it. Now I just need to memorize the words so I can freak him out and sing it with him.

Hahaha! Google it and see if you can find someone else singing it – wait until a romantic moment and then play it 😀

Let us know when you get into Wombat territory … my wife has always wanted one … and a Wallabie too! She traveled to Australia and Tasmania when she was young. Made a very lasting impression on her. I’m not much of a traveler but if I do ever go somewhere ‘exotic’ it’ll be in your neck of the woods. Keep the images coming! D (at Pairodox Farm)

What a fantastic holiday! One of the best parts about road trips is that unknown factor of discovery. Love those shots! Sorry about drivers behaving ignorantly. 🙂

Thanks, Anna 🙂
The drivers were really only bad in the cities – country drivers are a lot more patient (and they’ve got all the time in the world) 😀

Your pic of the kookaburra reminds me of a song we sang in elementary school about a kookaburra that sits on the old gum tree…merry merry king of the bush is he….
or something to that effect.
Looks like you’re having a fun time!

OCD reader was commenting on that earlier! Apparently her husband used to sing it when he was in school. I told her to download it and play it to him 😀
Every time I see a kookaburra I think of that song (school brainwashing) 😀

You warned me but I still wasn’t prepared for the cute factor of the kookaburra. I’ve always wanted to visit Australia so these past couple blogs have been a treat. You know I’m desperately afraid of snakes and despite wanting to visit I’ve always associated Australia with these mean and deadly creatures… now I see you’ve got some real cuties too ;).

Oh thanks, Rilzy! There are snaked, but you never really see them. At the moment I’m staying in a place that is notorious for snakes but not a sight of one so far. Also, it’s winter here and they don’t come out till summer – so this time of year is probably the best time to visit 🙂
