Celebration of the month of the birth
I don’t celebrate a birthDAY – I celebrate the entire month (even though it is officially my birthday today) – happy birthday to me
It’s a wonder I’ve had time to do anything on the old farmhouse with all the catching up I’ve had to do with old friends. So much for me moving to the country to write – I haven’t had time to scratch myself (lucky I haven’t had any itches).
Yesterday I went out to the old farm house to catch up on some blogging, but got waylaid doing some work around the place. But I did find a discarded snake skin where I usually sit and write.
- Snake skin under my laptop
On Saturday one of our dear friends was driving his tractor near an embankment when the clutch pin broke and the tractor went over the edge. He managed to jump off before it hit the bottom and is thankfully alive to tell the tale. We’ve been friends for so long I had actually based a character on him (one of the Rossi twins) in my novel Let Sleeping Gods Lie.
- Where the tractor went over
- Down the other side where it crashed,
YAY – I’m alive – let’s have a beer
- How I jumped!
While we were in the shed checking out the tractor we saw some dove chicks in a box. They were about a week old and the mother was nowhere around so I took a quick photo. Just to clarify here – this is a HUGE industrial shed with loads of noise and grinding of metal, but for some reason the mother dove decided to lay her eggs here (don’t worry, the boys who work in the shed absolutely LOVE them!)
We then went past a part of the farm where the boys used to swim when they were kids – but they don’t anymore…
- …because the crocodiles have moved in
I then said hello to Mo the pig (he’s a razorback btw!)
- Yes – that is my foot
- Mo is very polite because he sits to eat
My friend’s dog, Bonnie didn’t want me to leave at the end of the day
- Stay a little bit longer, please!
That was my yesterday – there’s loads on today with a birthday breakfast, a lunch and a dinner! Until next time – be well, stay safe and if you’re driving a tractor stay away from embankments!

A very happy birthday to you. I too celebrate the whole month. One day just isn’t enough.
Thank you so much for the birthday wishes, Sarah! You’re a woman after my own heart!
I need to quit my day job and wander around your farm. Except for the skinless snake, of course.
Hahaha! It really is a beautiful place. Someone suggested I use that snakeskin for a bookmark – I’m going to, just so everyone stays right away from me when I’m reading
Happy Birthday Dianne! One day of celebration just isn’t enough.I celebrate all month too.

Woo Hoo! I love that, Ann! It’s just to hard to fit everything in if it’s just one day
Thank you so much for the birthday wishes

And one more thing …
PPPPPAAARRRRTTTTYYYYYYYYYY TIME!!!!!!
Woooo Hooooo!!!! I love party time
Loads of *hugs* and *smiles* to you too
Happy BIrthday, Dianne! I hope it’s a lovely one. I love the little dog. She looks sweet. But I hope you don’t see anymore snakes on your laptop. Yikes!
I’ve been told the snake skin would make a great book mark!
The little dog is an absolute sweetheart.
Thank you so much for stopping by to wish me a happy birthday
Seeing as you celebrate the whole month I don’t need to worry that I missed your birthday! Happy birthday. This post was gorgeous – love all those stories, and the photos of the animals. I want that pig!!
This is the beauty of the monthly celebration – no one ever misses my birthday
The animals are very cute! The pig thinks he’s a dog
First, happy birthday! and I don’t need to apologize because I’m not late since you are celebrating the WHOLE month. One of my daughters, also a November girl, calls it her birthday extravaGANza month. Must be something to do with November babies. Secondly, snake in the laptop eeyyyeeeeww shudder shiver – aligators? really? – and Bonnie probably didn’t want to be left alone with that razorback Mo – did you think of that? Happy birthday month – what’s left of it.
Hahaha! Thanks Lynne! Yes – I see what you mean, Bonnie’s eyes are very pleading, aren’t they!!
Someone mentioned I should use the snakeskin as a bookmark – I thought it was a great idea because no one will want to come near and disturb me while I’m reading!
You’re daughter sound fabulous. I love her birthday extravaGANza!! It must be typical of November babies because a few ‘November people’ have told me they love to celebrate the entire month as well
Thank you so much for the birthday wishes!!!
It must be that November is usually such a dreary grey month – except this year – we have had a glorious sunny November and those words don’t usually appear in the same sentence.
There’s an award for you on my blog. Congratulations.

Woo Hoo – I just popped over to take a look. Thank you SO MUCH!
Sounds like a great way to celebrate your birthday!
Happy Birthday. Love the photos.
What breed is Bonnie btw? Looks like a King Charles Cocker. Just curious.
I think she is a King Charles. Her owner breeds them – she is a professional photographer (a million times better than me at taking pics) and she has some beautiful photos of all her dogs. That picture of Bonnie was the only one that worked for me from the dozen or so that I took!
Thanks for coming by to wish me a happy birthday!
Happy birthday, Dianne! Sounds like you had a great day. I hope you’ll show us pictures of your cake too.
Oh no! I didn’t take any pics of the cake – it disappeared too quickly!
Thank you so much for stopping by to say hello and happy birthday! It was a great day/month
Hope you had a great birthday. Kat
I did/still am! Thank you, Kat!
Happy belated birth-day-month
Enjoy it to the fullest!
Thank you so much, Christina!!!
Oh, I’m late to the party! But since you are celebrating all month, then I guess I’m not too late. Happy Birthday, Dianne! What a beautiful place to live! I can understand why you would want to move back there. ~Lynda
Thank you, Lynda – you’re certainly not late to the party (I think it ends tomorrow)
It is a beautiful place – many lovely rivers and mountains!
Happy Belated Birthday Dianne! a bit late as it is the start of the new month today:-). I like the idea of celebrating the whole month. Wishing you the best…
Thank you, Cocoa! It was a fabulous month
Lots of life around you in all forms… I like that.
