What is The Eleventh Question?

What is The Eleventh Question? I guess that doesn’t really matter – what matters is that it’s now published!

Because we’re almost in November (my birthday month) I’ve put The Eleventh Question up on Smashwords for free – zero – zilch – nothing (for a week or two)…

♥♥♥My birthday gift to you♥♥♥

I tried to put it on Kindle for free – but Amazon won’t play nice doesn’t allow it for some reason known only to them and their mothers. It is now available for lowest price they’ll allow – .99¢

The Eleventh Question on Smashwords (free)

The Eleventh Question on Kindle (.99¢)

If you prefer the real book version it is now available at LULU Press at a 50% discount (because that is the maximum they allow).

Now I can put my nose to the grindstone and get creative with my next novel!

Hi Dianne, Congratulations on publishing your book. My birthday is also in November, so I’ll have to get your book as an early birthday present. The only Kindle I have is the free app from Amazon, so I’ll probably go there and pay the 99 cents, but for one of your books, I’m sure that’s still like getting it free. Thanks for the gift.

    • diannegray / Oct 22 2012 10:10 am

I’m sure you can download it onto the free Kindle ap from Smashwords. That’s how I usually do it :D

  4. coffee2words / Oct 22 2012 10:10 am

Downloaded and added to my list Dianne! It must be an awesome feeling to have another book published :) happy birthday for November

    • diannegray / Oct 22 2012 10:55 am

Thank you, my dear :) It’s a big relief and now I can get back to doing what I love – writing!!!

      • coffee2words / Oct 22 2012 11:52 am

Actually I may have inadvertantly fibbed to you then… it’s not on my TBR list because it’s not on Goodreads yet!!

  5. donnajeanmcdunn / Oct 22 2012 10:11 am

Dianne, I meant that as a compliment but after I posted it, I decided it didn’t really sound like one, so I just want to add, I would have paid much more.

  6. jmmcdowell / Oct 22 2012 10:13 am

Congrats on the new publication! Time to head over to Smashwords…. :)

    • diannegray / Oct 22 2012 10:56 am

  9. Susan / Oct 22 2012 10:55 am

I’m happy to pay any Kindle price. I just finished Soul’s Child and can’t wait to get my hands on this next one. I’m spending more time reading your books than I am writing. :( But I love it!! Happy November birthday.

    • diannegray / Oct 22 2012 11:35 am

      That’s so lovely, Susan – I’m incredibly flattered!!! :D

  10. MishaBurnett / Oct 22 2012 11:15 am

Excellent, Misha. I’m glad it worked! ;)

  11. Don't Quote Lily / Oct 22 2012 11:22 am

Congrats! 99 cents isn’t a bad price anyway. ;) Just curious, no Nook?

    • diannegray / Oct 22 2012 11:36 am

Not sure what Nook is… :(

      • Don't Quote Lily / Oct 22 2012 11:54 am

    • diannegray / Oct 22 2012 1:34 pm

Thank you so much – I think the ‘month of the birthday’ has become a bit of a tradition ;)

It’s great to have the book finished and published – now I can exhale!

  16. letizia / Oct 22 2012 12:49 pm

  17. Janna G. Noelle / Oct 22 2012 1:52 pm

I’m a November baby too – yay Scorpios and Sagittarians. Which one are you?

I don’t own an e-reader at this time, but I’ll definitely use the Kindle app on my computer to check out your book. I look forward to it.

Are you doing NaNo for your next novel?

    • diannegray / Oct 22 2012 5:11 pm

      I’m a very typical Sagittarian :D

I don’t own an e-reader either (although I did overhear my mother say she may get me an iPad for my birthday – although, she may have forgotten already ;)

No NaNo for me thiis year – I’m trying to get everything ready for the big move up north. The house is coming along a little faster than planned :D

  18. Tina / Oct 22 2012 2:21 pm

Saved! Thank you so much! November… that makes you a Scorpio, huh?

    • diannegray / Oct 22 2012 5:12 pm

Sagittarian! I’m not nearly hot enough to be a Scopio! LOL ;)

Glad you got the book – enjoy!

      • Tina / Oct 23 2012 3:30 am

        Ah, that’s nice =)
Thank you once more! I’ll try reading it soon

  19. EllaDee / Oct 22 2012 2:35 pm

Congrats on the new book, and like so many of the other commenters I have a November birthday too. I’ll happliy accept The Eleventh Question as a freebie (and have indeed downloaded it from Smashwords as I type – thank you), answering my yet unspoken question which of your books I should start with – amazing also because my favourite number is 11, as my birthday and year each add up to 11 also. Best wishes for your birthday, you deserve all sorts of fabulous as giving away books is a lovely thing to do :)

    • diannegray / Oct 22 2012 5:16 pm

Oh, this is such a lovely thing to say, Ella :D

November is going to be a hot time for birthdays and 11 is a great number for me too ;) Although my b’day is on the 26th. I usually have a month celebration for my birthday (I like to drag it out)!

I really hope you enjoy reading the book.

      • EllaDee / Oct 22 2012 8:16 pm

26th Nov is special. You share it with my sister :) (who also likes to drag it out) :)

      • diannegray / Oct 22 2012 10:14 pm

        Hahaha – I love her already! ;)

  20. jmgoyder / Oct 22 2012 2:36 pm

    You are a star!

  21. jmgoyder / Oct 22 2012 2:37 pm

I am very interested in purchasing but am a bit preoccupied with stuff at the moment – I will get around to it – sorry!

    • diannegray / Oct 22 2012 5:18 pm

You don’t have to apologise! It’s free, so it doesn’t really matter (LOL) :D

  22. bulldogsturf / Oct 22 2012 2:49 pm

Smashwords here I come…congrats on another book published… and so pleased I get to read it…

  23. pbh / Oct 22 2012 3:51 pm

12th question: 99 cents…Canadian? you’ll be rich soon. thank you, looking forward to reading it.

    • diannegray / Oct 22 2012 5:28 pm

      Lol – not Canadian…

      Hope you enjoy it ;)

  24. harulawordsthatserve / Oct 22 2012 3:58 pm

Thanks for the gift! You both entertain and educate for you have inspired and motivated me, a confirmed technophobe (even if in my generation, so my parents keep telling me, that’s absurd), to join Smashwords and I have managed to download the PDF onto my PC…how exciting is that! Can’t wait to start reading when I get home from work…thanks Dianne and congrats!

    • diannegray / Oct 22 2012 5:30 pm

Oh, WOW – you sound as bad as me. I’m hopeless with anything technical. Congratulations to you for downloading it (Smashwords is great!)

      Enjoy ;)

  25. Bonnie at {PaperKeeper} / Oct 22 2012 4:12 pm

Congrats Dianne! And I just set up my account with Smashwords so I can download it…and thank you for turning your birthday on it’s head to give us a gift! :) I can’t wait to read it :)

    • diannegray / Oct 22 2012 5:35 pm

Thanks so much, Bonnie! There are loads of good books on Smashwords, so setting up the account may come in very handy in the future.

Birthdays are all about ‘giving’ to me. To have survived another year is worthy of celebration (not that I’m ill or anything – I just love being alive!)

I really hope you like it :D

  26. Maddie Cochere / Oct 22 2012 4:28 pm

Congratulations, Dianne! I hope to be reading this soon. :-)

  27. Denise Hisey / Oct 22 2012 4:55 pm

  31. ramblingsfromamum / Oct 22 2012 7:56 pm

1stly Happy Birthday to you!!!! :-) 2ndly Excellent news on another novel. I don’t possess an E Reader :-( but maybe I shall download. I so envy you and having books out there, (from the words of the Meadow-Lea ad) “you are to be congratulated” Well done Di.

    • diannegray / Oct 22 2012 10:13 pm

Hahaha – I love it – you sang a song to me. That’s a first here (there should be more of it!):D

Thank you for dropping in to say hello and congrats – you might have to give someone a hint to get you an e-reader for Christmas ;)

      • ramblingsfromamum / Oct 23 2012 8:38 pm

I think I just might ;-) Stands up on the foot stool and serenades to the lovely talented Di :-)

  32. Zen A. / Oct 22 2012 10:19 pm

Congratulations on getting a new book published, Dianne, and thanks for the free book! I have downloaded a copy and will get to reading it soon. Getting an e-reader this month, so this should make it easier. =D

    • diannegray / Oct 22 2012 10:27 pm

I’m hoping to get an ipad for my birthday (could just be wishful thinking).

Thank you so much for the congrats and I really hope you enjoy the story :D

      • Zen A. / Oct 22 2012 10:28 pm

You could drop some really strong hints! Or you could go for something other than the iPad. Have you heard about the Google Nexus? It’s pretty cool and more affordable. =D I’m waiting for mine to get here!

      • diannegray / Oct 22 2012 10:32 pm

Oh – I might have to check out the Nexus – thanks for the tip ;)

  33. Vikki (The View Outside) / Oct 22 2012 10:31 pm

    CONGRATULATIONS! :)

    Xx

  34. ly / Oct 23 2012 12:20 am

Congrats and thank you for our present for your birthday ( and mine is day after tomorrow). Can’t wait to load it on my what-is-now-ancient-e-reader to read it. Hope Santa comes through with the iPad for your birthday.
Also, thank you for the reminder that I need to finish up and get to the publishing sites. Just went to smashwords for the first time and Lulu to see what’s what. May need some advice later.
    Thanks again, Dianne!

    • diannegray / Oct 23 2012 7:26 am

Happy birthday, Ly – I really hope you have a great one (and someone thinks of buying you a new e-reader ;)

If you have any questions about those sites just email me (my address is on the My Readers tab at the top of the page) and I hope I can give you some of the tips I’ve learned the hard way over the years…

Thank you so much for dropping by with the congrats and I really hope you enjoy the story :D

      • ly / Oct 23 2012 7:39 am

Will definitely take you up later on those tips for publishing. I really appreciate the offer! Here’s a question: What do you do to celebrate when it is finally in print? (Nothing like starting with the last question first.) thanks Laura

    • diannegray / Oct 23 2012 7:59 am

Last year, when Soul’s Child was published, I had a book launch. It was absolutely fantastic!

This year I’m in the middle of a house move so I don’t think there will be a launch (friends and family keep pushing for one – they’re good like that!). But I think a quiet glass of champagne is on the cards for this Friday night instead ;)

  35. mcwoman / Oct 23 2012 12:21 am

This is great, Diane. Congratulations. Isn’t great to see your work in print?

    • diannegray / Oct 23 2012 7:30 am

Thank you, Barbara! It’s fabulous – I love having goals and this one has just been reached. Now for the next ;)

  36. ocdreader / Oct 23 2012 3:52 am

Thank you so much!! What a lovely gift – I will be downloading it as soon as I get home. I like the final cover. The world, she keeps spinning, no matter what we are trying to figure out eh?
Happy early birthday too – hope you have some fun stuff planned, we always get good stories when you go out :)

    • diannegray / Oct 23 2012 7:22 am

Thanks, Elisa! I had the other cover on until yesterday and then {something happened that I’ll tell you about later} I quickly had to find another cover. You’re right about the world spinning – and I love your take on this cover :D

Hahaha – when I go out all kinds of weird things happen. You know mw too well!

I really hope you enjoy the story ;)

  37. starproms / Oct 23 2012 4:26 am

  38. 4amWriter / Oct 23 2012 4:31 am

Exciting, indeed. I’ll be sure to read it soon. I have an e-reader, but I am starting to get swamped with ebooks! Egad. However, I still wouldn’t miss your book, no matter how long my book queue is! :)

    • diannegray / Oct 23 2012 7:33 am

Thank you – that is such a lovely thing to say. There’s no rush – just enjoy all the lovely stories you can. I can’t wait to get my e-reader ;)

Can’t wait to try it on the Kindle – can’t get your books in our local libraries but this is a great way. Congrats & thanks!

    • diannegray / Oct 23 2012 7:38 am

I’m only now getting used to reading books on-line (I thought I would never go that way) and its a lot easier than I thought.

I checked this morning and it’s now on Kindle (at last). I’ve updated the link on my post.

Thank you so much for the congrats and I really hope you enjoy the book ;)

  48. ripe red berries / Oct 24 2012 7:20 am

  49. justinwriter / Oct 24 2012 10:34 am

Congratulations on another book! :) Now I’ll have to refer to you as prolific author Dianne Gray ;) Strange, you don’t seem like a Scorpion (secretive), though perhaps you are a Sagittarian …

    • diannegray / Oct 25 2012 6:17 am

Hi Justin, Thank you for the congrats! :D

      I’m not near naughty enough to be a Scorpion – I’m a Sagittarian ;)

  50. Jess / Oct 24 2012 3:21 pm

Congratulations Dianne! It is always wonderful when I think of how much time and effort go into keeping a book on target… to see it come to fruition. Like a baby being born, no? And that you for so graciously offering it as a gift to us!

    • diannegray / Oct 25 2012 6:19 am

Thank you so much, Jess. Books are definitely like babies (long in the making and very difficult to deliver!) :D

I really hope you like the story ;)

    Fabulous! Congratulations – I’m impressed!
Happy birthday! I wanted to thank you, too, on the impending two-month (!) birthday of my blog, for being my very first follower!

    • diannegray / Oct 26 2012 7:48 am

Thank you so much, Melanie for the congrats and Birthday wishes! :D

Congratulations on your impending two month anniversary (that’s gone by very quickly!)

  56. dennisberry / Oct 26 2012 1:51 pm

Congratulations, Dianne. I shall go to my coin purse and dust it off. I only use the contents for very important purchases. It will grieve me dearly to part with such great wealth, but with a tear in my eye, I shall send the small fortune off to Amazon. For a writer of such caliber should be paid for her labors.

    • diannegray / Oct 26 2012 4:49 pm

Hahaha – thank you, Dennis! Wonderful stuff :D

  57. EJ / Oct 27 2012 3:06 am

Congrats Dianne – and what a lovely generous idea for your birthday! I have downloaded and when the horror that is project month is over I’ll sit down and read it.
I am a firm believer in prolonged birthday (birth month ;-)) celebrations so hope you have lots of lovely things planned!
    EJ

    • diannegray / Oct 27 2012 6:28 am

Thank you so much, EJ ;) I really hope you enjoy the story and you don’t get too exhausted in project month!

The month of the birth is a lovely time of year :D

  58. maggiemyklebust / Oct 27 2012 7:38 am

    Congratulations on the new book!
I’ve finished reading Soul’s child and REALLY liked it. I’m going to write a review and post it on Goodreads and Amazon, if thats okay with you…?

Maggie, that’s more than fine with me :) I’m so glad you liked it!

The Eleventh Question is free at the moment, so when you feel like another read, it’s there :D

Congratulations and Good Luck with your next project!! I’ve been through all of that also and feel that it’s important to support fellow authors so I’ll be looking at The Eleventh Question. :-)
